The Hon Martin Ferguson AM MP. The Minister for Resources and Energy, Martin Ferguson AM MP, will this week introduce the National Radioactive Waste Management Bill 2010 to the Australian Parliament. The Bill also recognises that Ngapa land on Muckaty Station was a volunteer nomination by the Northern Land Council in 2007 and that the Commonwealth entered into a Site Nomination Deed in relation to that land.

The Minister for Resources and Energy, Martin Ferguson AM MP, visited King Island today to sign the deed of contract for the King Island Renewable Energy Project and participate in a ceremony with Member for Braddon, Sid Sidebottom, marking the start of project construction. The Government is committed to the development of renewable energy technology and the King Island Project will be a showcase for technological innovation, he said.

Profitability has improved in three key Commonwealth fisheries since the conclusion of the Securing Our Fishing Future structural adjustment package in November 2006, according to ABARE's latest report on the effects of the fishery entitlement buyback. The report estimates the effects on profitability of the $149 million fishery concession buyback component of the Securing Our Fishing Future structural adjustment package. The report notes the importance of good fishery management in the creation and preservation of fishery profits.

The Hon Martin Ferguson AM MP. The Geographe Bay Tourism Association has received a $100,000 for the project from the Australian Government and $30,000 from the Western Australian Government to restore two lighthousekeepers' cottages, construct a new dining area and install pathways anddisabled access ramps. Minister Ferguson said funding for this project was part of a wider strategy to help the Australian tourism industry make an even greater contribution to economic growth.
