The Hon Martin Ferguson AM MP. The Visitor Profile and Satisfaction Report from Tourism Research Australia put Armidale in the top ten (ninth) out of 62 destinations across Australia for visitor satisfaction. Tourism Research Australia is presenting the survey results on behalf of Minister Ferguson to the Armidale Dumaresq Council today.

The Minister for Resources and Energy, Martin Ferguson AM MP, has told energy supply industry CEOs that the energy market policy agenda needs re-focussing to ensure we get the investment we need in networks and generation to guarantee the high supply reliability the Australian community rightly expects. 'Through the Ministerial Council on Energy, which I chair, Australian Governments will also legislate this year a National Energy Customer Framework to improve protections for vulnerable customers,' Minister Ferguson said.

'The projected growth rate is lower than in the past ten years, reflecting the long-term decline in the energy intensity of the Australian economy, and energy efficiency improvements, both of which can be expected to be reinforced by policy responses to climate change,' said Paul Morris, Deputy Executive Director, ABARE when releasing the report. 'Coal is expected to continue to dominate Australia's electricity generation mix but a shift to lower-emissions fuels is expected to result in a significant reduction in coal's share and increases in gas and renewable energy. 'Within the renewable energy cluster, wind energy is expected to account for most of the growth.

The Hon Martin Ferguson AM MP. The Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson AM MP, says the results of Tourism Research Australia's National Visitor Survey shows improvement in domestic tourism in the December quarter despite the economic difficulties of 2009 affecting domestic travel in Australia last year. Released on March 10, Tourism Research Australia's International Visitor Survey showed visitor nights increased six per cent and visitor expenditure increased by five per cent in Australia in 2009, despite global tourism declining by four per cent.
